Lucketts Support Unit is in service (read more . . .)

The Lucketts Volunteer Fire Company's new Support Services Unit officially went into service on 1 October 2024, and the Company has already had a busy month deploying to public service events and incident scenes that have showcased this important resource for the fire system and the community.

Above, Lucketts members unload supplies and equipment from Rehab Support 610 at "Demo Day" to demonstrate for County leadership and elected Supervisors the capabilities of specialized volunteer units such as ours. We also were on site for the Oatlands cross-country meet, the Bluemont Fair, the Waterford Fair, and other fall events in the community with our Incident Support trailer, Rehab Support truck, and UTV, which proved their worth helping attendees who needed assistance.

Rehab Support 610 was dispatched to two incident scenes as well—a hostage situation and a water recovery—delivering bottled water and other supplies to first responders who had been on the scene for many hours and appreciated our services.

To learn how you can join our Support Services team, please visit our Volunteer! page. It only takes a few hour of training to be fully qualified as a Support Services Aide and start running calls with us. Duty hours are flexible, and Support Services volunteers remain at home during their assigned shifts, reporting to the station only when needed.
